Keira Knightley

New-mom Keira Knightley revealed the name of her and husband James Righton's first child during an interview with Elle magazine.

The couple's three-month-old is named Edie, the actress, 30, told the magazine for its September issue. According to her, the love that comes with motherhood is "astonishing" and "extraordinary."

"It's a very primal, primal love," the Everest actress told the outlet. "And the ability to have no sleep and continue going. It's not pleasant -- I never thought that I could actually do it for the amount of time that I've done it."

The actress married Righton -- the co-vocalist and keyboardist of English band Klaxons -- in 2013. Reports of her pregnancy began emerging in Dec. 2014.

Knightley offered some insight to 20-somethings still learning to make their way, explaining that her 20s were "crap."

"My career was absolutely amazing; in fact, I don't think my career will ever get better than it was in my late teens, early 20s," she said. "But as a person, you're changing so much and you're trying to figure stuff out. Some people go wild and have a great time and throw caution to the wind, and I was the complete opposite."

"I was very shy," she continued. "It took me a lot of years to try and stop pleasing a lot of people and allow myself to have fun. It's the difficult thing of getting out of your own head. To stop going 'Oh, there's something I should be doing, there's a way I should be behaving, I should be dressing...' All of those shoulds," she went on, "you can drown in them."

During her 20s, Knightley revealed she went to therapy. "Oh [expletive] yea," she told the magazine when asked if she tried talking to a professional. "I highly recommend it...in my early 20s when I found everything completely overwhelming, 100 percent, I did it! Are you kidding?"

"You have to give it a go," she advised to those who are struggling through big moments in their life. "Try anything that might help."
