Moroccan star Saad Lamjarred could be temporarily released from the Fleury-Mérogis prison where he is currently held and be forced to wear an ankle monitor. A source close to the star, who was arrested last week on charges of “aggravated sexual assault,” told the Moroccan daily, “Assabah,” that Lamjarred could be soon released from prison and prompted to wear an ankle monitor
If the French justice system does force Lamjarred to wear an ankle monitor, he will not be able to leave French territory before the court makes a final decision concerning his judgment. In its account of the night’s events, Assabah says that Lamjarred allegedly met a young French woman at a night club, where she was with a few friends.
Since the singer’s arrest, many have taken to social media to express their support, using the hashtag #WeAreAllSaadLamjarred, while others have condemned this support given the gravity of the charge levied against him.
Lamjarred’s lawyer, Eric Dupont Moretti, announced that the Paris Appeals Court should examine Lamjarred’s request to be released on bail by Nov. 10.
