The UN Security Council late Friday condemned suicide attacks in the Syrian capital Damascus. The council "condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks" that Syrian authorities say left at least 40 dead, said a statement. Council members expressed "sincere condolences to the victims of these heinous acts and to their families, and to the people of Syria." UN leader Ban Ki-moon is "gravely concerned" at the escalating violence but also stressed that the Syrian President must fully implement the Arab League peace plan. Twin suicide bombings targeted security service buildings in Damascus on Friday, killing more than 40 people.
