About 117 people were killed Sunday at the hands of regime army, most of them in Damascus and its countryside, the Local coordination committees of Syria said Monday. The Free Syrian Army took over the Tishrin Dam of Aleppo countryside, 80 kilometers away from the Turkish borders, Alarabiya news channel reported Monday. Meanwhile, the Syrian Revolution General Commission said sounds of heavy fire were heard from Yarmouk Camp near Damascus. Pro-Assad forces shelled an area in Assali district of Damascus. The Free Syrian Army pounded a security position in Quneitra governorate in southwestern Syria. On Sunday, fierce clashes erupted Sunday between the regime and rebel armies in suburbs of Eastern al-Ghouta of Damascus. Bodies littered in the streets, no one managed to approach the bodies of the dead to bury them for fear to be picked off by snipers spreading everywhere, MENA correspondent said. Most of residents in Damascus countryside left the area whose infrastructure has been destroyed. An avalanche of missiles hit Nashabia of Damascus countryside on Sunday, forcing a large number of people to leave, eyewitnesses said. Protests have gripped Syria for more than two years to oust President Bashar al-Assad, thousands of people have been killed and hundreds of thousands injured.
