Abu dhabi - WAM

Four hundred teachers have been randomly selected from schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to undergo experimental tests in line with the pilot programme to licence teachers and educational leaders in the UAE.

The move is a part of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to identify future procedures for licensing teachers.

Earlier, a delegation of senior officials visited the teachers at Emirates College for Advanced Education.

Dr. Thani Al Mehairi, Director-General of National Qualification Authority, Head of the Licensing Project, said the project aims at upgrading quality of the education sector, whose core is the teacher. The licencing conditions should match the state development plans to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, he added.

The college is proud of the ADEC's move for choosing it as a strategic partner to implement the pilot project of teachers and educational leaders' licencing, said Dr. Aref Al Hammadi, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Emirates College for Advanced Education.

The college will conduct tests electronically as per international standards in a way that ensures quality and secrecy, he added.
