Morocco’s Al Akhawayn University and Dallas University in Texas have signed a memorandum of understanding setting up a new framework of work and cooperation between the two institutions.

The signing ceremony, which took place on November 15 at Dallas University, was attended by the Moroccan ambassador to the US, Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui.

Al Akhawayn has partnered the American university to collaborate on a new international program “in the hopes of educating students and strengthening ties,” said the Moroccan university.

The memorandum is meant to develop cooperation between two universities, which are “very similar in terms of the number of students and their philosophy of higher education and training,” said Driss Ouaouicha, the president of Al Akhawayn.

“Ouaouicha and Lalla Joumala have recently visited the University of Dallas Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business to mark the beginning of a new relationship,” added Al Akhawayn.

Founded in 1993 by a royal decree, Al Akhawayn is one of Morocco’s leading universities.

Since opening its doors to international students in 1995, Al Akhawayn University has  become the home to students from many different countries including Syria, Kenya, Ivory Coast, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Spain, and Portugal among others.
