Labour and Social Development Minister, Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Chairman Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan paid a visit to Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco).
He met Bapco Chief Executive Officer Dr Peter Bartlett, Deputy CEO Ebrahim Talib, executive management members and officials, then toured the refinery and inspected the Awali-based Oil and Gas Academy.
He commended the vital role of Bapco in supporting the national economy and buttressing the development of Bahrain, hailed the company’s quick response to the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to upgrade the oil and gas academy.
He stressed the importance of academy in training and honing the skills of national cadres, hailing the company’s successful reliance on Bahraini competences in operation production sectors. .
He commended the company for supporting more than 150 university students to pursue their studies in Bahrain and abroad, adding that Bapco has set a model of Bahrainisation for other national companies.
Humaidan lauded Bapco drive to empower women and enable them to hold high positions in its different administrative and technical departments and sections.
He commended the oil company for its keenness on improving work environment, providing latest health and professional safety standards, which represent corporate requirements for companies to thrive and expand the investment projects.
The ministry commended Bapco management positive relation with trade union, which contributed to supporting constructive dialogue and achieving more strides.
