Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, has extended deepest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the Bahraini women’s landmark achievements and gains, thanks to the royal care.
The Bahraini women’s strides were also attained thanks to the effective cooperation between the Representatives Council and the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and as a result of the constant support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, Al-Mulla said.
In a statement marking the Bahraini Women’s Day, the Speaker extended sincere appreciation and gratitude to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), lauding the major role she is playing to enhance the status of Bahraini women and achieve the SCW’s plans, goals and message aimed at empowering Bahraini women in various fields, being essential partners in the comprehensive development march.
Al-Mulla pointed out that dedicating this year’s Bahraini Women’s Day to women in the engineering field reflects the Bahraini women’s landmark achievements in this sector for more than four decades.
He underlined parliamentary support for Bahraini women, and pride in their role and sacrifices, through laws and legislation that enable them to assume their family, social and national responsibilities.
Women are essential partners in the comprehensive development process witnessed by the kingdom, he said, expressed the Council of Representatives’ pride in the role played by Bahraini women under the Royal Reform Project and democratic march.
The Speaker highlighted the Council of Representatives’ achievements in favour of Bahraini women, the last of which the approval of the Unified Family Law, which he described as a major civilisational gain for Bahraini women.
He also asserted that the Representatives Council is keen on taking the visions of the SCW and women associations while discussing laws and legislation, as well as the Government Action Plan.
He also said that there is Women and Child Committee at the Representatives Council and the Equal Opportunities Unit at the council’s Secretariat-General, adding that he will give directives to hold training courses for women at the Bahrain Centre for Parliamentary Training.
