The 44th meeting of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) general assembly stressed the need to strengthen fruitful and constructive cooperation and exchange of expertise and experiences between Arab news agencies to face the future challenges and develop media discourse.
In its closing day on Wednesday, a suggestion was pitched by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) to issue a statement that urges an end to rampant conflicts while highlighting the need of peaceful coexistence. The statement also espoused merits as forgiveness and acceptance to showcase an unsullied image of the Arab world.
On cooperation between Arab news agencies, collective calls were made for increased joint workshops and courses that ensure efficiency and punctuality in delivering news, with focus on economic affairs.
Furthermore, the conference disclosed plans to forge partnerships with global news agencies such as Reuters, where training programs will be held on a regular basis in efforts to ensure impeccable delivery of news.
The conference also underscored the need for further collaboration between Arab news agencies, which will ultimately boost competitiveness in the Arab media sector.
Qatar News Agency (QNA) was represented in the conference by its Director-General Ahmed Saad Al Buainain and News Department Director Abdullah Abdurrahman Al Muzaffar.
