Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA signed a memorandum of understanding, MoU, with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital during his official tour of the US where he met several high-level healthcare officials from various health institutions and organisations.
Following the MoU signing, Al Qutami, said, "The Dubai Health Authority is aware of the growing demand for its specialised health services across hospitals, primary care centres and specialised centres. Cardiology is one of the most important fields of medicine and the establishment of an international centre for cardiology, will increase Dubai's competitive capabilities on the international medical front, and it will further bolster its position on the global medical tourism map."
He highlighted that DHA has highly qualified healthcare professionals in the field of cardiology and that their cardiology departments are recognised for the specialised services they provide both in interventional and open-heart cardiac procedures. The departments have become a referral centre for complicated cardiac cases and the establishment of this dedicated international centre will further aid in the provision of high-level care.
He said that the Centre will have the latest equipment, super-care facilities and a unique healing environment. It will also focus on training education and research in the field of cardiology. The DHA aims to make the centre a training hub in the region.
