Egyptian security forces in North Sinai succeeded in deterring an armed attack on one of their checkpoints on Sunday in Rafah, according to an Al Arabiya reporter.
Witnesses of the attack said that armed men began shooting gunfire at security guards standing at the checkpoint, where one soldier, Mohamed Ibrahim Mahmoud, 22, was injured.
During investigations in the area around the checkpoint, two bodies were found that belong to the terrorist faction that attacked the checkpoint. Mahmoud was transferred to Arish Hospital to receive treatment.
Earlier on Sunday, a lieutenant was also injured in the city of Arish after an explosive device detonated in a security armed vehicle at the entrance of the city.
Security forces had discovered three explosive devices in North Sinai planted in the routes usually taken by the forces. They were immediately disposed of by live ammunition with no injuries.
