Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN Gholamali Khoshroo in a letter to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voiced Iran's official protest to the recent extension of Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) by the US Congress and Senate.
'The government of Iran considers the recent US Congress approval on renewal of anti-Iran sanctions as blatant contradiction to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and violation of the US commitments under the nuclear agreement,' Khoshroo said in his letter to Ban.
He reiterated that the extension of ISA is against all JCPOA commitments of the US and therefore this country will be responsible for all its negative consequences, Iran's News Agency (IRNA) reported.
Khoshroo urged the UN secretary General to mention the US violations in his upcoming report to the UN Security Council.
The Iranian envoy asked the UN Secretary General to ask all sides to the JCPOA, especially the US to remain committed to their pledges as per the nuclear agreement.
