Pakistan's military said that a soldier was killed in firing from the Afghan side of the border on Saturday.
An army statement said terrorists fired from across the border on newly established Pakistani Border post in Rajgal mountains region in Khyber Agency.
Lieutenant Arsalan Alam, the officer Commanding that post got hit while performing his duties and was killed, the statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.
Arsalan Alam, 22, was the only son of his parents with three sisters, family sources said.
Pakistan have established several posts in Rajgal valley to stop the cross-border movement of the militants, particularly the IS militants, who reportedly operate from parts of eastern Nangarhar province.
Pakistani ground forces, backed by air power, launched major operation in Rajgal in July this year after some militants revealed during investigations that they have contacts with the militants of IS in the Afghan side of the border and use the rugged mountainous region in Rajgal for crossing the border.
The operation in Rajgal Valley, located at a height of nearly 4,200 meters above sea level, and had eight passes of which the militants would use to enter Pakistan for their activities, was concluded late in August, according to the army.
