At least four people, including a senior police official, were killed and one other was seriously wounded when unknown gunmen opened fire at their vehicle in Pakistan's southwest city of Quetta on Wednesday evening, local Urdu TV channel Dunya reported.

According to the report, the firing incident took place at about 6:55 p.m. local time when some unknown armed men riding motorcycles sprayed bullets at the vehicle in the Nawa Kali area of the city.

The gunmen escaped after the firing. Police have arrived at the area and cordoned it off for search operation, said the report, adding that the bodies and the injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital in the city for medico-legal formalities.

According to police, son and wife of the senior police official were among the killed, adding that a minor girl also got injured in the firing incident.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Last week, at least three policemen, including a senior official, were killed and some eight others injured in a suicide attack on the vehicle of the senior police official in Quetta.
