Bahrain is studying the possibilities to assign the private sector to construct a four-billion-U.S.-dollar causeway that will be the second one to link the country with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain News Agency reported on Sunday.
The Minister of Transportation and Communication Kamal Ahmed Mohammed revealed that the causeway will include two railway routes linked to the national railway of Saudi Arabia and four lanes for cars, it said.
The causeway is of huge importance to the two neighboring countries, especially Bahrain, as it will expand the island state's land transport capacity and promote its tourism and economic development plans.
