Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received here today the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sunni Endowment Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jaffari Endowment Shaikh Mohsen Al Asfoor, in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa and Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan.
The Interior Minister expressed thanks for the attendees on their role in protecting the national unity and civil peace, adding that the recent attacks on places of worship require hard work and coordination to protect the national security.
He said that the allocation of security resources to protect places of worship is the duty of the Interior Ministry, which is in charge of protecting citizens and residents.
The meeting attendees also discussed the installation of CCTV and utilising other modern technologies to secure places of worship and their surroundings.
It was decided to close mosques after each prayer so caretakers can continuously monitor all mosques’ interiors and sections.
The Interior Minister discussed the fact that religious extremist speech can endanger lives so legal procedures will be taken against anyone whose speech threatens national unity. He outlined the importance of religious sermons and speeches at bringing people together and promoting national unity, adding that places of worship are not for politics and that Islam calls for unity.
The attendees expressed thanks to the Interior Minister for meeting with them to serve the nation and its interests. They prayed to Allah Almighty to protect Bahrain.
