The coalition for the support of legitimacy in Yemen has stated that the targeting of a location adjacent to Alaf market in the directorate of Sohar, Saada province, is a legitimate military target, because of the presence of missile experts.
This was in response to the allegation that the Coalition targeted Allaf market.
The spokesman for the forces of the Coalition for the support of legitimacy in Yemen, Colonel Turki al-Maliki, said that the coalition’s joint command has completed all post-action procedures for the operational tasks carried out. (MORE ABOUT THE OPERATION).
Comprehensive review
There was also a comprehensive review of the selected military targets and the propitious military targets to include the planning and auditing procedures and their conformity with international humanitarian law and its customary rules of targeting, (Military necessity, discrimination, proportionality, humanity) as well as the rules of engagement of coalition forces.
It has been shown that what has been carried out in the place and time of the claim, is a highly valuable target, and “a legitimate military objective”, as it was a site for the gathering of some elements of the Houthi militias, including experts in the missile brigades group.
He said that all documents and procedures related to operational planning and implementation were reviewed, in which the correctness of the planning and implementation procedures as well as preventive measures and tactical considerations to minimize any side effects and taking into consideration the lifestyle and social situation around the site.
He also stressed the commitment of the coalition to fully implement the provisions of international humanitarian law, especially in the protection of civilians and the application of the highest standards of targeting.
