Houthi militias fired a ground-to-ground missile that hit a school in the village of Al-Jaradiyah in the Jazan region, said an official source within the Arab coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government. No casualties have so far been reported.
The missile damaged the school, its yard and some citizens’ property, the source said, adding that the Houthis do not hesitate to target schools and civilian facilities in clear violation of international humanitarian law.
Al Arabiya recently reported that the Saudi forces killed at least 40 Houthi militias who tried to approach Saudi borders, while others fled. Furthermore, Saudi forces destroyed strongholds in which the rebel militias holed up in addition to four-wheeled military vehicles.
A Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in Yemen’s civil war in 2015 to back President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi after he was ousted from the capital Sanaa by the Houthis.
Government forces in the south and east hold most of Yemen’s territory, while the Houthis control most population centers in the northwest, including Sanaa
