Emirati women make up over 55 percent of the total workforce at the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 37.5 percent of the banking sector's manpower and 66 percent of total government jobs, according to Mohammed Thani Murshed Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
In statements marking the Emirati Women's' Day, Al Rumaithi, who is also the Board Chairman ADCCI, said the number of Emirati businesswomen and entrepreneurs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has hit 3,555 and they are running projects valued at billions of dirhams, noting that 30 percent of the government jobs held by women are senior decision-making posts.
"Emirati women are working diligently and efficiently, contributing to the country's economy on the same footing with men," he added, signaling out the UAE women's contributions to R&D in areas of space as well as in other platforms developed as part of the government's efforts to build a robust knowledge-based economy.
